Hitmark keeps what it needs to run your shelf, your wishlist and your squad. There are no ads, no third-party analytics or tracking tools, and we never sell your data.
What we store
- Your account. Hitmark creates an anonymous account when you first open the app. There is no email address or password. You can set a display name.
- Your shelf. The games you add, the platform, whether you own or want each one, how far you have got, the lists you make, and when you added them.
- Your squad. The people you connect with through invite links, and the invite links you create.
- Steam, if you connect it. Your Steam ID, confirmed through Steam’s own sign-in page. We never see your Steam password. We use it to read the games and wishlist Steam shares for your account and add them to your shelf.
- Purchases. Which in-app purchases your account owns, such as the Founder avatar, so they stay unlocked.
- Adding a game from a link or a description. What you enter is used to work out which game you mean. We keep the result, the website’s name and a one-way fingerprint of the link so we can measure how often we get it right. We do not keep the link or your words.
Who can see it
Your display name and the games on your shelf and wishlist are visible to people in your squad. Nobody else can see them, unless you turn on a public profile.
A public profile is off until you switch it on in Settings. While it is on, your display name, avatar, shelf and wishlist are shown on a web page at hitmark-app.vercel.app/u/your-handle, which anyone with the link can open and search engines may index. Your squad is never shown. Switch it off and the page goes away.
When you share an invite link, the page it opens shows the covers of your most recent games to whoever has the link, so they can see what Hitmark is before installing it. It shows no name.
Services we use
- Supabase hosts our database and server in London.
- Steam handles sign-in and provides your games when you choose to import them.
- Apple handles payment for in-app purchases, and RevenueCat records which ones your account owns. We never see your payment details.
- Google Gemini helps identify a game from a link or description you enter. It receives only that text, not your account details.
- IGDB and IsThereAnyDeal provide game details, cover art and prices. We send them no personal information, though cover art loads directly from IGDB’s servers.
- YouTube plays trailers when you tap one, under Google’s privacy policy. Store links open the retailer’s own website.
Hitmark uses your phone’s region setting to show prices in pounds or dollars.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data while your account exists. Settings → Delete account in the app removes your account, shelf, wishlist, squad membership and Steam connection for good.
Because accounts are anonymous, deleting the app without deleting your account first leaves your data in place with no way back into it. Email us and we will help remove it.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email us and we will reply within a month. If you are unhappy with our answer you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
Hitmark is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly hold their data.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update this page and the date at the top.
